Stay safe online: protect your data
At YourBuildingManager, we take your online safety seriously. Because our platform contains sensitive data, we are extra careful — and you should be too. On this page you find essential tips to avoid scams and stay secure.
Spammers imitate trusted companies
Scammers often send fake emails that look like they come from us. Their goal is to steal your login credentials, financial data, or personal information. Always be cautious, especially if the email:
- Requests urgent action
- Includes suspicious links
- Arrives unexpected
- Looks out of context
- Is a reply to a so-called email from you (but you never sent anything).
We do our best to prevent these kinds of situations, but depending on how our platform is used, they may still occur. Always think twice before taking action!
Don’t click unexpected links
If you receive an email with a link you didn’t expect, don’t click it. Ask yourself: Did I request this? If not, stay cautious.
Even if it looks legitimate, verify it first: hover over the link to see the actual destination. Does it point to yourbuildingmanager.online (or its translations)? Are all characters in the right order?
Check hyperlinks carefully
Fraudulent emails often use links that look nearly identical to ours. Our official domains are:
- EN: yourbuildingmanager.online
- NL: jouwgebouwbeheerder.online
The following examples show some of the ways scammers try to cheat you. Notice how hard it can be to spot the scam:
- yourbuildingmanager.com
- buildingmanager.online
- yourbuldingmanager.online
- yourbuldingmanager.onlne
These small differences are easy to miss — but they can lead you to unsafe websites that look identical to ours and aim to steal your data.
How to verify an email
Ask yourself the following:
- Does it contain unexpected attachments or urgency? That’s a red flag!
- Is the sender address correct? Fake emails often use lookalike domains.
- Is the tone unusual? Scammers often try to create panic or excitement to trick people. For example:
- "Your account will be deactivated if you don’t click this link within 24 hours." → We would always notify you well in advance if something important was happening.
- "Click here to become the owner of a new building!" → We can give you the role of owner on our platform, but not ownership of any real-world building.
- Is the request unusual? We rarely ask for passwords or sensitive information by email. We avoid email attachments as much as possible in our efforts for efficiency and sustainability.
If you're unsure, do not reply or interact with the message.
When in doubt, go directly to the source
Never follow a link you don't trust. Follow those steps instead:
- Open your web browser.
- Type yourbuildingmanager.online manually.
- This ensures you’re safely accessing the real platform.
- Log in and check for any notifications or messages there. Most of our messages contain the unit or person’s name for easy reference.
- If you find the information online, the email is likely legitimate. If you don’t find it after a thorough search, it’s probably a scam. In that case, be extra careful—scammers often try to trick you repeatedly! But don’t ignore all emails; some you should definitely read!
